Terri was a kind, considerate and caring Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Mother-in-Law and Oma. She was always more concerned about the needs of everyone else before her own needs. She lived a healthy and fulfilling life. She chose to become a Registered Nurse and Midwife. However, her impeccable ability to diagnose illnesses from signs and symptoms illustrated that she ought to have studied to become a Doctor as she would have made an excellent one.
She became a leader at Weight Watchers and prepared her presentations with great dedication and careful attention to details. This resulted in creating a very large following with resultant personal success. Many of her followers were successful in their personal challenges and attained their Goal Weight. Terri went on to become a Regional Coordinator for Weight Watchers where her application and dedication resulted in her becoming the number 1 coordinator in a very short space of time.
Terri had a very strong and determined will power. She subscribed to very strong life principles which have guided her throughout her life.
Sadly, she was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiform Grade IV brain tumour in April 2019. This is an almost incurable Brain Tumour with a survival rate of a mere 10%. Whilst the treatments of Radiation and Chemo Therapies were successful in shrinking the Tumour, the MRI scan to check up on this tumour, now also showed black spots representing Gas or Liquid instead of Healthy Brain Cells. On 11th September 2019, her Oncologist spoke to Terri’s husband John alone as Terri was now incapable of being transported from Fiona Stanley Rehabilitation Hospital to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. She informed John that Terri would not survive this. Her time frame was unknown. Could be 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months or 12 months. Terri’s mobility by this stage was severely affected and she couldn’t stand or walk any longer. Over the following months, other aspects of Daily Living activities would also become retarded so that she was now totally reliant on care provided by Health Care Professionals.
She enjoyed the last few weeks of her life at Regents Garden Residential Care Facility in Aubin Grove. This was a mere 1.4 KM from home. Her Room was decorated to make her feel at home. Indeed, she was happy there and often spoke highly of her new premises to visitors, Every evening, she would look forward to her nightly treat of a Magnum Ice Cream and a 30Ml shot of Baileys that John would bring from home.
Sadly for her family but happily for her, she took her last breath on Friday morning, 1 November 2019, around 9:00AM. Both her husband and daughter Emma were minutes away from reaching her. She decided to leave us before we arrived so that we would not witness those last few awkward moments of her life. Here again, thinking about others and not herself.
My dearest “Sterretje”, you will always reside in my thoughts, actions and heart. Our love will never die. I will miss your companionship every day whether at home or away from home. We had so many plans for 2020. These are now adjourned and I will need to travel there on my own. However, I will take you with me in my thoughts and in my heart. I will share those experiences with you every night.
Sleep softly and rest in peace. You have earned your rest.
Your devoted Johnno. XXX
