Muslim Funeral
A Muslim funeral is a solemn and simple ceremony that emphasises the swift burial of the deceased in compliance with Islamic beliefs and practices. The process includes specific prayers and rituals, beginning with Hidaad, a mourning period of three days where moderate weeping is allowed but excessive crying and outward expression of grief are discouraged. The deceased undergo washing rites performed by individuals of the same gender, followed by shrouding in a cloth tied with ropes.
The Muslim funeral service, known as Salatul Janazah, involves reciting the Fatihah and additional prayers for the deceased. Burial traditions specify that the body be interred on its right side, facing Mecca, often in a Muslim cemetery that restricts women and children from attending the burial.
Muslim funerals can include

- For close relatives lasting only 3 days, where weeping is acceptable but loud crying and acting out is not. Muslims believe the deceased’s spirit can hear the cries and cause them anguish

- Burial Traditions
- Muslim deceased are traditionally buried in a Muslim cemetery where no women and children are allowed at the grave during burial. The deceased is placed in the grave on its right side, facing Mecca.
