Michael Zerafa’s Inspiring Story

Stepping into the ring
Michael “Pretty Boy” Zerafa, Australian boxing champion, is on the cusp of ticking off the last of the three childhood goals he set himself – to win a world title.
Zerafa’s first goal was to fight Mundine and beat him, a goal achieved in 2021. Zerafa said, “This is a legacy fight for me: 15 years I’ve been waiting for this moment”. After the fight, Zerafa shared he has “nothing but love and respect” for Mundine, who hung up his gloves for the last time. Zerafa’s second goal was to have Michael Buffer as his ring announcer, which he realized not once, but twice.
And now, mere weeks away from his big IBF world title showdown against big hitter Esquiva Falcao, Zerafa is poised to tick off his third goal. Zerafa shares the friendly banter with Falcao in the leadup to the match, warning Falcao to “put your sponsor on the bottom of your shoes brother because you’re gonna be on your back looking up.” If Zerafa wins, he will have reached the top of the mountain. His motivation? Believe in yourself because without it you don’t have a shot.
