Philip Lako’s Inspiring Story
A story of survival at its very core
Taken from his African village at the age of 10 by rebels under the guise of receiving an education, Philip Lako was trained as a child soldier in the civil warzone of Sudan for ten years. Surviving years of abuse and torture at the hands of the Sudan People Liberation Army Rebels, Philip lived with the realisation, deep in his soul, that he had a higher calling. He understood that his situation was not a permanent state of being.
After his escape, Philip journeys to Kenya as a refugee and finally to Australia. Learning to adapt to a new culture and working through his fear of sleep were just some of the challenges he would face. Philip has penned his story in his book The Ten-Year-Old Man, a book of incredible resilience and survival.
Philip shares his philosophy that you should “not allow fear to prevent you from discovering the core purpose of your existence.”
