Celebrating the Life of Helmut Maul: Helmut Maul was born in Breslau, Germany, on January 12, 1939. As a young man, he possessed the courage and adventurous spirit that would remain with him throughout his life. In 1963, he left Germany and journeyed halfway around the world to begin a new life in Australia - the country he would proudly call home for more than six decades. Helmut built a long and successful working life in Australia, dedicating some 35 years to NALCO, the American company with which he spent much of his career. He was hardworking, dependable and took great pride in a job well done. But Helmut's greatest and most enduring partnership was not found at work. It was with Joyce, his beloved wife and lifelong companion. Together, Helmut and Joyce made their home in Rockingham, Western Australia, where for 35 years they shared the everyday joys of married life - a home, friendship, laughter, companionship and countless memories. In 2005, another chapter began when Helmut and Joyce moved to Arcadia Waters in Greenfields, where they continued their life together. A Man Who Enjoyed Life: Helmut did not simply pass through life - he participated in it. He had a wonderful sense of fun and an enthusiasm for trying something different. One of his great passions was the drama club, where he thoroughly enjoyed taking to the stage. Among his memorable appearances were Swan Lake and, perhaps one of his most endearing characters, Santa Claus - a role particularly suited to Helmut's sense of fun and his ability to bring a smile to those around him. But the stage was only one part of Helmut's adventurous life. Helmut also loved the outdoors and enjoyed many happy days fishing and crabbing, along with camping and gold prospecting. There was the great Australian outback: And then there was the remarkable adventure Helmut and Joyce shared - travelling around Australia together, experiencing the enormous distances, wilderness and beauty of the country Helmut had chosen as his home so many years before. Those journeys gave Helmut and Joyce stories to tell, places to remember and a wilderness experience they would cherish for a lifetime. A Life Shared With Joyce: Through all the adventures, travels, work and performances, there remained one constant at the centre of Helmut's life: Joyce. Their many years together were built upon companionship, devotion and the simple comfort of sharing life's journey side by side. At the heart of Helmut's life was Joyce, his beloved wife and lifelong companion. Their years together were filled with shared experiences, quiet companionship and memories gathered over a lifetime. Those memories - of laughter, adventure, friendship and the many journeys they shared - remain a lasting celebration of a life richly lived. Helmut lived a full, productive and wonderfully adventurous life - from Germany to Australia, from the workplace to the stage, and from camping, fishing and crabbing to goldfields and the vast Australian outback. It was indeed a life well lived and a journey well travelled. Helmut passed away peacefully in Mandurah, Western Australia, on September 11, 2026, at the age of 87. His was a life filled with love, laughter, hard work and adventure - and above all, many wonderful years shared with Joyce. Rest peacefully, Helmut. Your journey is complete, but your story lives on.
