Yolanda Shantelle Chuma Mavhiya

Yolanda, I honestly don’t even know where to begin. We met in 2004 at Victoria Primary School and little did we know that a friendship we were building as little girls would become such a beautiful part of our lives. I and Fungai were boarders, while you were a day scholar. And one thing I will never forget is how you would always pack lunchboxes for us and bring them to us during break time. Looking back now those little gestures meant so much more than we probably realised at the time. Even as a little girl, you had such a beautiful and generous heart. You were always thinking about others.

But you were also one tough girl😂 You had a strong personality, you could stand your ground and nobody could easily push you around. That’s what made you who you were. A good heart but a tough spirit. From Vic Jnr to Regina Mundi where you, Fungai and I planned to go to the same high school we shared so many memories. And then came Form One at Mundi😂😂 Yolanda and Fungai honestly, you two would never let me forget that I was part of the reason we ended up at that school and you hated Mundi the first 2 terms. We had our good times, our bad times, our laughter, our little adventures and everything in between. But one thing about you Dankie was that you were always in someone’s corner. You were that friend who showed up, who stood by you and who made you feel that you were not alone.

And our friendship did not end when school closed for the holidays. We lived in the same hood visited each other and continued making memories. Honestly, I could write an entire book about our childhood. If only we knew then that one day we would look back and wish we could relive just a little bit of it.

I am grateful that I got to experience those years with you. I am grateful for the memories, the friendship and the beautiful childhood we shared. Rest in eternal peace my friend. You will always be part of my story and a beautiful chapter of my childhood. Wherever you are please watch over your son. May he always feel your love, protection and presence even in your absence.

Yolanda, eeeish it came as a surprise. I knew you from high school and we would occasionally talk on Facebook. You were larger than life, I don't have words still in shock. Go well, Rest in Eternal Glory Dankie.

If there ever was a moving archive😅😅that was you lil sister, now you are gone with all our stories😪😪who is going to remind us about all the shenanigans we did when we were young😔you had all the details. Gone too too soon but you will be in my heart forever.

Yolanda words really cannot explain the void you have left in my life. The first time we met was really funny and you kinda tried to bully me 🤣🤣🤣 until we got to talk and that moment changed everything. From that day you became my best friend, my sister, my confidant and my partner in crime 🤦. You became my protector from that day till this day. I will always miss our long video calls discussing what is happening in our lives, talking about our kids and future plans. If it was up to me I would ask God to bring you back because you still have unfinished business down here but I guess heaven needed it's angel back. I will forever miss you my friend fly high
